Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy (MEWRE) has signed a contract valued at 74.703 million Kuwaiti dinars (about $244 million) for the construction, completion, maintenance, and development of the existing Shuwaikh Water Distribution Complex and related facilities.
According to Zawya, the contract was awarded after receiving approval from the Central Agency for Public Tenders (CAPT) and following the completion of required legal and technical procedures.
The ministry awarded the contract to the lowest compliant bidder that met the technical and commercial requirements of the project. The name of the contractor was not disclosed.
The project includes planned upgrades to increase the complex’s fresh water storage capacity by 66 million gallons per day (MGD). It will also raise fresh water pumping capacity to 54.5 MGD and brackish water pumping capacity to 23.5 MGD.
The Shuwaikh Water Distribution Complex is one of Kuwait’s main water distribution hubs and is part of the national infrastructure used to supply potable water across the country.
