Kuwait extends bid deadlines for $1.57b in strategic projects
Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), the state-owned upstream operator, has extended bid submission deadlines for major oil sector projects with a combined estimated value of $1.57 billion, reports MEED. The extensions come as part of the country’s broader upstream development strategy aligned with its 2035 oil production targets.
Project 1 – NK SA/BA Area Separation and Injection Facilities
The largest of the four projects, valued at approximately KD292 million ($951 million), involves the development of a separation facility in the NK SA/BA Area, near Gathering Centres 23 and 24. The scope also includes establishing a new injection facility at GC-31 and effluent water injection networks in northern Kuwait. The updated bid deadline is now 22 July 2025.
Project 2 – Mutriba Remote Boosting Facility
The second project, estimated at KD130 million ($420 million), is located in northwest Kuwait. It involves the development of the Mutriba oil field and the installation of various components such as a degassing station, wellhead facilities, oil and gas treatment plants, and associated infrastructure. The new bid deadline is set for 27 July 2025.
In October 2024, KOC had announced plans to tender a project management contract for this field and had invited four international firms—Schlumberger, Halliburton, Baker Hughes, and Weatherford International—with the possibility of expanding the list of eligible bidders.
Project 3 – Effluent Water Injection Network (North Kuwait)
Valued at around $100 million, this project will establish an effluent water injection system to support enhanced oil recovery operations. The technique involves injecting treated produced water into oil reservoirs under pressure to maximize extraction. The bid deadline has been extended to 22 July 2025.
