Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has secured a major design-build-operate contract for a water management project from the Guwahati Metropolitan Drinking Water & Sewerage Board in Assam, India.
The project aims to ensure a continuous and safe water supply to households in South-East Guwahati, enhancing the reliability of the city’s water system. The scope of work includes designing, supplying, installing, and constructing a barge-mounted intake system, raw water rising main, water treatment plant, reservoirs, a booster pumping station, and a distribution network that will connect to household service lines.
L&T will also implement a fully integrated SCADA system for real-time monitoring and performance management. The company will handle the operation and maintenance of the system for five years.
According to the company, the order strengthens its presence in India’s Northeast and aligns with its strategy to expand in water infrastructure while delivering sustainable solutions.
