Maynilad Water Services is advancing its commitment to sustainable water solutions with the near completion of its second NEW WATER facility in Pasay City, Phillippines. This state-of-the-art plant is designed to convert treated used water into potable water, addressing the growing demand in Metro Manila.
The Pasay facility, expected to be operational by December 2025, will produce 12 million litres per day (MLD) of potable water, sufficient to serve approximately 60,000 residents. Utilizing a multi-stage treatment process, the plant ensures the output meets the Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water (PNSDW) set by the Department of Health.
This initiative is part of Maynilad's broader investment in NEW WATER treatment plants across four cities by 2027. These facilities aim to collectively provide up to 90 MLD of potable water, benefiting nearly 400,000 customers.
Maynilad's first NEW WATER facility in Parañaque City, operational since 2022, currently supplies 5 MLD of drinking water to local communities and has received international recognition for its innovative approach to water reuse.
“Maynilad’s NEW WATER initiative is a key part of our sustainability strategy,” said Maynilad President and CEO Ramoncito S. Fernandez. “It not only provides additional water supply but does so in a way that eases pressure on our traditional sources amid growing demand and the effects of climate change.”
By embracing potable water reuse, Maynilad is not only enhancing water availability but also contributing to a circular economy and promoting climate resilience in the Philippines.
