NX Filtration has been awarded an ultrafiltration membrane replacement project in Québec, Canada, by H2O Innovation, a Canadian water technology company. The project involves retrofitting an existing ultrafiltration system by replacing legacy membrane elements with NX Filtration's membrane technology.
According to the companies, the retrofit is designed to improve the operational performance and reliability of the municipal water treatment facility while remaining compatible with the existing system configuration. The approach is intended to avoid major infrastructure modifications, providing what the companies describe as a cost effective way to extend the system's lifetime and improve water quality.
The project includes the installation of nearly 200 direct replacement ultrafiltration membrane modules. NX Filtration said the modules are designed to fit within the plant's existing configuration while enhancing system performance.
"This project demonstrates how utilities can significantly improve performance without the need for complex system changes," said Esther Victoria Guedez, Country Manager North America at NX Filtration. She added that the company's hollow fiber membranes are designed for integration into existing installations, allowing operators to upgrade systems while improving efficiency, robustness and water quality.
Martin Bordeleau of H2O Innovation said the partnership would enable the company to deliver performance improvements for its customer while minimizing downtime and maintaining the existing plant configuration.
NX Filtration said the project reflects its expanding presence in the ultrafiltration replacement market and its focus on supporting municipalities through membrane replacement projects for existing water treatment infrastructure.
