Saudi Arabia's National Water Company (NWC) has announced the completion of 50 water and sanitation projects worth more than SAR 2.4 billion ($640 million) in the first half of 2026, as the kingdom continues to expand its water infrastructure under the Vision 2030 programme.
The state owned utility said the projects were carried out across several regions of the kingdom to expand access to water and wastewater services, improve operational efficiency, and strengthen the country's water infrastructure. The portfolio included 33 water schemes worth more than SAR 1.1 billion and 17 sanitation projects valued at SAR 1.3 billion.
The work involved the expansion of main lines and feeder networks nationwide, resulting in more than 1,360 km of new pipelines. This included 883 km of water networks and 477 km of wastewater networks, contributing to a 210,000 cubic metre increase in the kingdom's operational water storage capacity.
According to NWC, the projects also raised the capacity of wastewater treatment plants by 15,500 cubic metres per day and increased the capacity of pumping and lift stations by 307,000 cubic metres per day. The company said the work was carried out in line with its governance standards and in support of Vision 2030's goals to modernise infrastructure and improve public services.
