During last week’s ‘Year in Infrastructure’ event, organized annually by Bentley Systems, we spoke to Sonny Andalis, BIM Manager-Buildings, Infrastructure and Advanced Facilities at Jacobs, to learn a bit more about the Tuas Water Reclamation Plant built in Singapore. This project, designed by Jacobs Engineering Group and Singapore’s National Water Agency, PUB, was nominated as one of the finalists for the ‘Year in Infrastructure 2019 Awards’ in the ‘Water and wastewater treatment plants’ category.
Andalis explains that this project is very important for Singapore because the plant differs from most wastewater plants. At the Tuas Water Reclamation Plant, the wastewater is not only treated to make sure it is safe to put back into the ocean or rivers, the wastewater is treated to make safe drinking water, which they call ‘new water’.
