VA Tech Wabag, headquartered in Chennai, announced last week it had won multiple contracts worth approximately 100 million euros (nearly $122 million) from Switzerland, Tunisia and Libya, reports Times of India.
Energie Service Biel/Bienne awarded VA Tech Wabag Switzerland a contract for the design and construction of a Lake Water Treatment Plant, which would replace the existing facility that is over fifty years old and ensure water security for the municipality of Nidau and Biel.
According to Wabag, the facility will be built with a technology that purifies water using a multi-barrier treatment, including reverse osmosis. The plant will be built in the next five years.
In Tunisia, the firm has also won an order to design and build a 30 WLD water treatment plant at Kasseb Dam. The contract has been won by Wabag in consortium with local civil partners from Societe Nationale D’explotation Et De Distribution Des Eaux. Wabag aims to complete the project in 20 months and the consortium will be in charge of the plant’s operation and maintenance for a period of six months. The project includes the design, engineering, construction, supply, installation and commissioning of a water treatment plant using advanced Lamella clarifier technology.
Lastly, Wabag Austria signed a contract with General Desalination Company of Libya. The contract is for the design and construction of three thermal seawater desalination plants in Bomba, Libya. This contract is the biggest thermal desalination plant order the company has ever had to build.
