Yarra Valley Water has appointed Service Stream and Ventia as its maintenance service delivery partners under a new long-term agreement aimed at supporting the continued delivery of water and sanitation services across Melbourne’s metropolitan region.
The Australian utility announced that the partnership model will begin in October 2026, with the two companies responsible for maintaining critical water and wastewater infrastructure serving more than two million people in the state of Victoria.
Under the arrangement, Service Stream and Ventia will deliver both planned and responsive maintenance services across Yarra Valley Water’s civil, mechanical and electrical assets. The scope includes work on sewer and water networks, treatment plant infrastructure, and specialist equipment such as pumps, valves and electrical switchboards.
Yarra Valley Water said the new structure builds on existing relationships with both contractors. Service Stream has previously worked with the utility on capital delivery projects, meter reading and asset reliability initiatives, while Ventia has been an established maintenance partner with operational knowledge of the network.
Yarra Valley Water General Manager Asset Services Bridie Fennessy said: “We know how important reliable water and sanitation services are to the people we serve, and strengthening our partnerships with Service Stream and Ventia helps us keep delivering on that promise.”
She added: “We’ve built strong relationships over many years, and this next chapter is about working even more closely, sharing what we learn and finding smarter ways to maintain our network so our customers feel the benefits.”
The contract will run for nine years, with the utility stating that the transition to the updated delivery model will take place over the coming months while ongoing works continue uninterrupted.
