  • SA Water awards €170 million water and wastewater services contract to Suez

About the entity

As an expert in water and waste for 150 years that is present on the 5 continents, SUEZ harnesses all its capacity for innovation to work for the efficient and sustainable management of resources.

South Australia Water (SA Water), the State government enterprise in Australia, renews its trust in the SUEZ Group with a new Alliance contract for the production and treatment water and wastewater services to metropolitan Adelaide, the fifth largest city in the country. The successful bid, worth 170 million euros (approximately $206 million) over five years, will begin in July 2021 and will see SUEZ operate five drinking water and five wastewater treatment plants catering to the needs of around one million people.

SUEZ’s approach will feature a local industry participation plan with initiatives to transform the contract into tangible economic and socioeconomic benefits for the community. As part of this plan, an ambitious business improvement program that aims to achieve sustainable savings will be supported by the implementation of smart solutions developed by the Group, including the AQUADVANCED® suite, SUEZ’s innovative digital tool dedicated to securing drinking water and improving the overall performance of production systems and distribution networks, while contributing to reducing the ecological impact on the environment.

It’s an honor for SUEZ to continue supplying the community of Adelaide with drinking water and wastewater services for the next five years. This comes after the successful collaboration between the Group and our 10-year partner SA Water, and we’re proud to be continuing our relationship in 2021 and beyond. Through SUEZ’s expertise and knowledge in the water and wastewater sector, we will be supporting SA Water in its commitment to deliver high-standards water and wastewater services. The contract’s renewal with SA Water further demonstrates the Group’s long-term partnership strategy with the country’s authorities and falls in line with the Group’s strategic plan “Shaping SUEZ 2030”, strengthening our position internationally. In Australia, SUEZ is a leader in the water sector with key projects such as the Melbourne and Perth desalination plants and the Prospect water filtration plant in Sydney
