SUEZ pursues its development in Asia, supporting industrial development while protecting the environment: the Group won a number of design, engineering, supply of equipment and technical service contracts for municipal and industrial wastewater treatment worth a total value of c.€91.7millions for municipal and industrial wastewater treatment in Asia.
Wastewater treatment development contract in Metro Manila
With a population of more than 13 million inhabitants, Metro Manila currently has an ambitious target to increase the household sewerage coverage and subsequent treatment to avoid various health and water pollution issues. SUEZ has been appointed to undertake the design and construction as well as one year of operation and maintenance of the Aglipay Sewage Treatment Plant in Mandaluyong city. With a daily capacity of 60,000 m3, it will be the biggest in the country. It will meet stringent national standards exceeding EU requirements to reduce adverse impact on Manila Bay and Pasig River and environmental footprint. Construction is underway and is expected to be completed in early 2024.
A number of projects in China: wastewater treatment equipment and full-process technical services for two chemical parks and the supply of municipal and industrial wastewater treatment equipment and technical services
In Wanhua Yantai Industrial Park in the Shandong province of China, SUEZ will provide Wanhua Group1, a Global Top 50 chemical company, with integrated wastewater treatment units and a full-process suite for the tertiary treatment of concentrated wastewater. The process is the result of intensive innovation and allows the client to reuse discharged ozone exhaust gas in the aerated biochemical reactor, which enables waste gas recycling but also significantly improves the efficiency of biochemical treatment. The project is expected to cut COD2 emissions and reduce carbon emissions by 13,000 tons and 3,930 tons per year respectively, whist reducing operating costs and electricity consumption by 681,895 kWh every year. This is the third joint project between the two companies following successful collaborations in 2017 and 2018.
At the Lianyungang Petrochemical Industrial Base, SUEZ will provide a full-stage water treatment solution, along with equipment and technical services to Shenghong Group3, a Fortune 500 company. The project applies SUEZ’s “embedded WWTP” concept which helps the refining-chemical integration project to meet the most stringent discharge standards for wastewater treatment in public works. The solution turns waste into resources and will reduce carbon emissions by 8,123 tons a year.
Additionally, SUEZ also signed a series of municipal and industrial wastewater treatment contracts with a combined daily treatment capacity of more than 1 million m3. These projects will significantly improve local water quality and wastewater treatment capacity, while enabling the reuse of water and conserving scarce land resources. Among them, the industrial water treatment facilities can help remove large volumes of suspended solids and polluted elements from wastewater, thus preventing secondary pollution of water bodies.
