Sydney Water recently awarded the upgrade of the existing Macarthur Water Filtration Plant (WFP) to its long-time partner TRILITY.
Macarthur WFP was Sydney Water’s first public private partnership. It involved the design, build, finance and 35-year operation and maintenance of the 265 ML/day WFP located in Appin NSW and was commissioned in 1995.
The upgrade to the 24-year-old Macarthur WFP is essential to ensure continued reliability and quality of water supply to the Camden, Campbelltown and Wollondilly areas of New South Wales. It is also necessary to guarantee Sydney Water’s compliance with current Australian Drinking Water Guidelines.
A collaborative approach was adopted throughout the lengthy planning process, which culminated in the project commencing in 2019. The project is quite complex and will see construction activities on site for two years. Measures have been taken to ensure little or no disruption to neighbouring properties.
The partnership between Sydney Water and TRILITY is based on achieving longterm water treatment solutions for the communities in which they serve. This upgrade is no exception, together their commitment is to continue to provide a long term and affordable solution to improve drinking water quality under variable source water characteristics to 300,000 Sydney Water customers.
Kevin Conna, Acting General Manager of Customer Deliver for Sydney Water said, “We’re delighted to continue our collaborative working relationship with TRILITY. Together we will continue to deliver high quality drinking water to the residents of Camden, Campbelltown and Wollondilly.
Francois Gouws, Managing Director TRILITY said “We are very proud of the partnership we have built with Sydney over the past 24 years. It’s a partnership built on collaboration and the exceptional services provided by the Macarthur Operational team. The award of this upgrade is a testament to the relationship and together, we will continue to deliver quality water to the Camden, Campbelltown and Wollondilly areas of New South Wales”
