  • Saudi Arabia opens tender process for sewage treatment plant

About the entity

Saudi Water Partnership Company
Saudi Water Partnership Company is responsible to procure PPP water infrastructure projects and the offtaker for all water delivered by the private and public sector in Saudi Arabia, in addition to offering PPP transaction advisory services.

The Water & Electricity Company in Saudi Arabia seeks companies to express their interest to participate in the tender process for Taif Independent Sewage Treatment Plant before the 27th of January 2019.

The company has published that Vision 2030 recognises the critical importance of ensuring the future reliable provision of sewage treatment services for the quality of life of residents of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia ("KSA").

To meet the sewage treatment requirements Water & Electricity S.M.L.L.C (“WEC”) has commenced a programme to commission a series of new Independent Sewage Treatment Plants (“ISTPs”).

WEC is therefore pleased to invite expression of interest (“EOI”) in respect of the development of a new ISTP with a total ultimate treatment capacity of up to 270,000 m3 /day. The ISTP will be located near the city of Taif, in the Mecca province of KSA.

WEC will conduct a competitive process to select a developer or developer consortium for the development, financing, engineering, procurement, construction, implementation, ownership, operation, maintenance and transfer of the Project, together with associated infrastructure and facilities. Under a 25- year Sewage Treatment Agreement (“STA”) with WEC, the project company to be incorporated to develop the Project will treat the entire sewage capacity supplied by WEC. WEC’s obligations under the STA will be supported by a credit support agreement from the Government of KSA.
