Metito Utilities, a leader in sustainable water management, is making a strong return to the Chinese market with the establishment of a regional headquarters in Dalian and a major agreement to enhance water infrastructure on Xizhong Island, according to a post published in the company's official LinkedIn page.
Following a six-year absence, the company is investing $20 million in its Dalian headquarters and allocating $150 million towards water infrastructure development. These initiatives are designed to support the industrial expansion of Xizhong Island, which is part of the Dalian Economic and Technological Development Zone. By 2030, the island aims to reach a refining capacity of 40 million tonnes per year, with ambitious targets for aromatics and ethylene production.
To address the growing industrial water demand, Metito Utilities will implement desalination and water treatment solutions on Xizhong Island. This effort will improve water efficiency, reduce dependence on conventional sources, and contribute to China’s broader sustainability objectives.
Highlighting the significance of this expansion, Rami Ghandour, CEO of Metito Utilities, underscored the company’s commitment to the region: “Re-entering the Chinese market is a pivotal step in Metito Utilities’ global growth strategy. Establishing a regional headquarters in Dalian is a sign of our long-term commitment to China, while our partnership with Xizhong Island Petrochemical Park is a cornerstone of this expansion, ensuring a stable and sustainable water supply for one of China’s most ambitious industrial hubs. This project will set a benchmark for desalination and industrial water treatment in the region, and we look forward to collaborating closely with our partners in Dalian and Xizhong Island to drive long-term impact and innovation in water infrastructure.”
