Oman launches its first-ever floating desalination plant

Oman Water and Wastewater Services Company (Nama) has installed the first-ever floating desalination plant in Oman, reports Utilities Middle East.

The company has introduced floating and mobile water desalination plants in the Musandam Governorate, which offer desalination, transportation, and distribution operations.

The floating plants use international technologies in reverse osmosis and the potable water will benefit 70 marine villages.

The use of the floating and mobile water desalination plants by Nama will bring significant change to the water supply and distribution system in the area, tackling water scarcity and boosting the local economy.

According to Nama, the desalination plants will also promote investment in Oman by developing the water organization, supporting small and medium projects, and aiding commercial and tourism sectors.
