Saudi Arabia Partnership Company (SWPC) is likely to award the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for its Rabigh 4 Independent Water Plant (IWP) plant by the first quarter of 2023, reports ZAWYA.
A source close to the project told ZAWYA this week that “The Request for Proposal (RFP) was issued on 16 June 2022. The bid submission is due on 18 September 2022 and the contract award is expected by early January 2023.”
The future seawater reverse osmosis desalination plant will be located on the Red Sea coast and will have a total capacity of 600,000 cubic metres per day. It will also have a 100-kilometre-long water transmission pipeline and associated infrastructure. The awarded company/consortium is expected to develop, finance, procure, implement, operate, and maintain the facility.
In June 2022, SWPC issued a request for proposals (RFP) for the Rabigh-4 Independent Water Project (IWP). Last year, the company preselected eight groups to bid for the Rabigh 4 IWP project.

- Cobra Instalaciones y Servicios (Spain)
- Kahrabel (France/UAE)
- Marafiq (local)/ Alfanar (local)
- Marubeni Corporation (Japan)
- Utico (UAE)/ Mowah (local)/ CRCCI
- Veolia (France)
