Australian bulk water service provider Sunwater has appointed David Hourigan as interim Chief Executive Officer, effective 8 June 2026, as the organisation continues its search for a permanent leader.
The appointment follows the announcement in May that former CEO Glenn Stockton would step down after nearly six years in the role. At the time, Sunwater confirmed that a formal recruitment process would begin immediately to identify the organisation’s next chief executive.
Sunwater Chair Jeff Seeney said Hourigan brings extensive experience from senior positions in both the Queensland and Australian governments. Most recently, he served as interim CEO of Queensland’s Olympic Games Independent Infrastructure and Coordination Authority.
According to Seeney, Hourigan’s background in public administration and infrastructure leadership will provide continuity and strategic guidance during the transition period.
“We look forward to David leading Sunwater’s delivery of water for prosperity to customers and communities across regional Queensland,” Seeney said.
The company also confirmed that the executive recruitment process for a permanent CEO is underway.
Seeney thanked Chief Financial Officer Erin Strang, who had been acting in the role in recent weeks following Stockton’s departure.
