About the entity

VA Tech Wabag announced earlier this month that it has secured an order valued at ₹145 crore from Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd (CPCL), reports Business Standard.

According to the company, the project involves the design, engineering, supply, fabrication, installation, and commissioning of desalination water pipelines connecting the CPCL Manali Refinery to the CPCL desalination plant at Kattupalli. The completion timeline for the project is set at 12 months.

"CPCL has been a key customer of Wabag and we are happy to be chosen to deliver this project," said S Natrajan, head-sales and marketing, India cluster.

At the end of December, VA Tech Wabag revealed it had secured an order worth €78 million from the Lusaka Water Supply and Sanitation Company in Zambia. The company will undertake the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) of two advanced wastewater treatment plants with capacities of 54 Megaliters Per Day and 19 Megaliters Per Day (MLD) in the Zambian cities of Ngwerere and Chunga. The EPC phase will span 36 months, followed by an additional 24 months dedicated to Operation & Maintenance to ensure sustainable performance and efficiency.

Additionally, the company also disclosed the cancellation of its $317 million order for a 300 MLD Mega Sea Water Desalination Plant in Saudi Arabia.

"With reference to our above intimation dated September 06, 2024, relating to the 300 MLD Mega Sea Water Desalination Plant Order in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, we hereby inform you that the Customer has notified all tender participants on December 16, 2024, that the said tender stands cancelled pursuant to their internal administrative procedures," VA Tech Wabag stated in a regulatory filing.

The company further mentioned that the Saudi Water Authority had informed all tender participants about the cancellation due to internal administrative procedures. The EPCC contract had covered the design, engineering, supply, construction, and commissioning of the 300 MLD Mega Desalination Plant, which was to be developed on a greenfield site on the west coast of KSA, south of the Red Sea-facing city, Yanbu al-Bahr.
