Shandong Electric Power Construction III (SEPCO3), based in China, has officially announced the signing of an EPC Contract for the Hassyan Seawater Desalination Project in Dubai, UAE, reports Saudi Gulf Projects.
This agreement was formalized in conjunction with ACWA Power during the third "Belt and Road" International Cooperation Summit Forum.
This initiative forms an integral component of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA)'s strategic plan to enhance its water desalination capacity, with a target of reaching 730 MIGD by 2030, a substantial increase from the current capacity of 490 MIGD.
The project encompasses a comprehensive scope, entailing both construction and operation of the Hassyan Phase 1 Independent Water Producer (IWP) project, with a substantial capacity of 180 Million Imperial Gallons per Day (MIGD) via Sea Water Reverse Osmosis.
Notably, DEWA and ACWA Power previously entered into agreements in October 2023, paving the way for the $914 million Hassyan Seawater Desalination Project.
